ne
of the most delightfully irreverent musicals
of all time and a satire of big business
and all it holds sacred, the musical follows
the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch, who uses
a little handbook called "How To Succeed
In Business Without Really Trying"
to climb the corporate ladder from lowly
window washer to high-powered executive,
tackling such familiar but potent dangers
as the aggressively compliant "company
man," the boss' whiny, nepotistic nephew,
the office party, backstabbing co-workers,
caffeine addiction and, of course, true
love. This show came with a promise to appeal
to anyone who has ever worked in an office
and it lived up to that promise. A Tony
winner for Best Musical in 1962 and again
in 1995 for Best Musical Revival.
